This phone is a key for the website door. Android’s usual path is sideload a new APK — not Play until Rue opens the store, and not Expo Go.

How Android prefers it

  1. Tap Download APK when the house posts a file (Chrome / Files).
  2. Open the download. If Android asks, allow install from that source for this site.
  3. Install over the old AskRue / Echo app (same package). Keep the same signing key so it replaces instead of sitting beside it.
  4. In the app: Settings → Check for update. Next time the house bumps version, the phone offers this page again.

USB is the same idea: plug in and install the new APK over the old one. Do not use Expo Go — custom askrue:// needs the installed app.
